Replacement Path Variable question --

Friends,

I have a workbook on query-1 (4 user selection variables) and one of the object in the query has a replacement path variable on query-2 (1 user selection variable).

What happening is, when I execute the workbook after entering the selection values for query-1 and click on execute, query-2 selection screen comes and after entering the value I have to click on Execute twice (yes, 2 times) inorder to get the result set.. Is there a way I can run the second selection screen by 1 click... and also is it possible to let the query-2 user selection screen run first and later the query-1...

let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate your comments.

Regards

Mavi

Hi Mavi,

The second selection screen does execute with one click of the execute button...are you sure you let it load completely before clicking on the Execute?

Hi Bhanu,

Thanks for your response.. Yes, the user selection screen for the query-2 need to click on execute twice (yes, 2 times) inorder to run it..

When you say it does execute on 1 click.. did you ever experienced it.. if yes could you pls share the scenario..

Thanks

Yes, I mean always, but after your post I executed one of the result set queries to be sure. Can you run just query 2 and see what happens.

Query-2 runs well itself.. only problem is when Query-1 executed, Query-2 need to be clicked twice...

Do you see any scenario like I mentioned.. Q-1 (4 user selection variables) ..Q-2 (1 user selection variable)..

and replacement path variable between Q-1 and Q-2...

Thanks

My scenario has some 20 variables on the first selection and another 20 on the second...do you have any other ResultSet scenario that you can test with?

Bhanu, I just ran the workbook and found the same issue..and just realised that there are 2 replacement path variables..not 1... do you think its bacause of that..

I have tested the scenario with 1 replacement path variable and see that Query-2 was executed with 1 click.. ..strange..

Thanks

Hi Mavi,

When running can you see what query name turns up on the title of the selection screen window...like yourun Query 1, and see the variable screen of query 1. Then query 2 runs and you see this variable screen. When you click Execute once on query 2, what is the query name on the selection screen? Is there a possibility that there are 2 replacement path variables??

Yes Bhanu..

I tested the report..its happening because of having 2 replacement path variables..

and also to you question, I did see the Query-2 title 2 times when I have 2 replacement path variables..

Bhanu,

Do you think is there any way to bring the User selection screen on Query-2 first and the Query-1 selection screen 2nd ??

Thanks

Mavi

No, I don't think so...see Query 2 is called by the replacement path variable that is put into action when query 1 is executed...but why do you want to do this?

Understood, but trying to find is there any tricky option to switch them..

according to the client requirement, I have to keep mandatory user input variables in Query-2 (Q-1 has all optional selection variables).. just thinking it would be gr8 if I let the user to put their mandatory values first ..
