"Search" option not visible in AdminMenu

Hi All,

After installing the new version Netweaver NW2004S Version 7 SP5 and KMC Version 7:00 SP5, I am not able to see the "Search" option on the Admin Menu.

I am using the default layout

Layout Profile :ConsumerListProfile

Layout Set : ConsumerExplorer

CollectionRenderer: ConsumerCollectionRenderer

All I can see are "View", "Folder", "Selection" and "GoTo".

I changed the layoutset to AdminExplorer, still same result.

Do I need to configure something else to make the Search menu appear?

Thank you all for the responses. Matthias, my initial issues is that I cannot view the search option from the portal header. So I cannot execute the search.

So do I need to install the Trex server , Trex client or Global File System? I understand the Trex server takes up a lot of resources. Is this the only option available to get the Search functionality?

Hi Seema,

OK, your response explains a lot.

At least you need to install KM. That's abviosly not installed, otherwise you would at least see the search field. But that's merely the fiel...

Additionally you need a TREX server for the search

functionality itself.

Matthias,

I understand now what you meant by Portal header. When I execute the search it says "search index could not be found". So I guess I need to have the Trex server installed.

Hi Seema,

yes,and after that create an Search Index under:

Systemadmin - System Config - KM - Index Admin

Perhaps I didnot explain right. Please see my initial post. I have installed KMC version 7:00. I can see my repository managers and execute lot of other functions. But When I go to Content Administration, KM Content page, I cannot see the "Search" button in the Admin menu. But other options like View, GoTo, selection and Folder are visible.

So from what you say, I would need to install Trex even to see that "Search" button in the admin menu?

did you already define a KM Search Index?

What happens when you execute search from portal header?

Hi,

This button only appear if you have created an index (index administration, you must configure TREX). Have you done it ?
