"Periodic job" check box functionality in the start variant of a process ch

Double click any start variant of a process chain, then click Change Selections button, the Start Time window pops up with Some buttons on the top like "Immediate", "Date/Time", "After job", "After event", and etc., and at the bottom of the window, there is a check box called "Periodic job". We are not sure the functionality of this check box, is it only related to the "Date/Time" button when setting up a schedule run? Does it function if the process chain is triggered by an event and the event is triggered by a daily job? Also does it function if the button "Immediate" is clicked?

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

If suppose say u r running a process chain with an hourly periodicity and later at some point of time if u take an immediate run for this chain with the periodicity check box checked.

Now u can check observe that the chain will tigger as the hourly. So do ensure that u will uncheck the check box when u wil take the immediate run.

Hope it helps-

MM

Hi,

If u scheduled a chain to run for an hourly, weekly, mothly or with some other period then u willl get a check box with ticked.

Even this will work with the Event chins also..

do ensure that u will remove the tick option when ever u r going for the immediate run. If u wont do that means then it will take the previous schedule settings.

Regards-

MM

Thanks for your input. I don't quite understand for the immediate run, you mean that if I check this box for the Immediate, then the Immediate run won't work?

Thanks

If the process chain is being started using an event and repeats say everyweek in future, periodic job should be selected. Else chain runs only one time.

If the Process Chain is set to trigger by the Date/Time option you can leverage the Periodic Job functionality to repeat the execution of the same Process Chain either Hourly, Daily, Weekly or Monthly. These periodic increments are based on the original Date/Time value set for the Process Chain.
