Hello,
Whenever I attempt to Print a report in Crystal Reports 2008, I get an error that "Crystal Reports has stopped working" with the option to Debug or Close program. This happens regardless of what report I open and attempt to print. This is a new issue, the last time I used Crystal it appeared to work fine (approx 2 weeks ago).
Crystal version:
CR Developer
Version 12.0.0.683
Product Type: Full
The product is registered. I have checked for Crystal program updates, however none were available. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit with SP1 on a Dell laptop with Intel T7400 CPU. Since the last time I ran Crystal, the following Windows updates have been installed:
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - January 2009 (KB890830)
Microsoft - Other hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB958687)
Office Live Add-in
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB959141)
Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [January 2009] (KB905866)
and a few Definition updates for Windows Defender (last one being 1.49.2551.0)
If I take the option to Debug the program, the following error is reported:
Unhandled exception at 0x3e047fbb in crw32.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.
I can successfully Export the report as a .rtf or .pdf and print the results which is my interim workaround, however this seriously reduces the functionality and sometimes produces undesirable formatting of the report.
Can anyone offer some suggestions on how this can be corrected?
Thank you,
Charles

Hi Charles,
As you have mentioned you are using vista then try to turn off DEP:
Please try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following: bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn
Or you can apply latest service pack for crystal reports 2008 i.e, SP1 if you dont want to turn off DEP.
If you are using Dual monitor run the CR application on primary monitor cause Dual monitor is not tested with Crystal Reports.
Regards,
Shweta
