HI I am using a CR with this formula and not understanding:

iif(GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC})<> " "," ", "NO DESC")

Thank you,

Philky,

I think you are asking the syntax of the iif statement, it is as..

IIF(condition, true part, else part)

so your case can be..

iif(GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC}) = " ","NO DESC", GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC}))

that means, when your group name is empty then make it as NO DESC and when it has some value then leave it as it is.

To simplify above you could write it with simple If statement as

If(GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC}) = "")

then

"No Desc"

Hope this helps!!

Thanks

Hi,

Abdul's assumption is correct.

IIF(GROUPNAME(FIELDNAME) = "", "", GROUPNAME(FIELDNAME))

I think this is what the original formula is

iif(GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC})<> " "," ", "NO DESC")

The formula you would be more familiar with would look like:

If GroupName ({IV00101.ITMGEDSC}) =  " " Then
    "NO DESC"
Else  " " ;

I'm thinking there is an operator such as the equals sign in there but isn't showing in the forum. If that is the case then it would read as;

if the groupname of the description equal empty string then output empty string else output No Description

which doesn't make sense bec if its empty, doesn't that mean 'no description' ?

Sorry but it didn't make sense to me either.

I am not understanding this formula. I have to understand what the CR is all about.
