Hi,
In Archiving i have noticed that an Archiving object has one or more infostructures available and some objects has no infostructures at all.
1.How to identify the Info structures from multiple for Activation?
2.If i activate two info structures for an object, wat happens?
3.Table AIND_STR1 has infostructures for almost all objects but when i enter the same info structure in sarj it says no info structure found.
Ex: MM_EINA(Purchase info records) has no info structure avialbele in sarj, but there exists an info structure (SAP_MM_EINA_AS) in the table AIND_STR1 for the same object, how to use this for archiving?
Kindly clarify the doubts.
regards,
Mans.
if the field ITYPE = S, then it is only a field catalog but not an info structure
infostructures have ITYPE = I

Hi jugen,
thank u so much for the quick reply and as u said i checked, yes ur right its an field catalogue.
Could u please also clarify this doubts,
1.How to choose exact info structure to activate from an archiving object which as multiple info structures available.
Ex: MM_MATBEL (SAP_DRB_MATBEL1 , SAP_MATBEL_MARI).
2. Can we activate multiple info structure for an object? If so wat happens.
regards,
Mans.
indexes are tables in SAP, the more indexes you create the more data you have again in SAP tables, which is reducing the effect of archiving.
If you use the Data relation ship browser, transaction ALO1, then you need to activate SAP_DRB_MATBEL1 index.
if you want read archived documents with MB51, then you need the index SAP_MATBEL_MARI.
Please read OSS notes
Note 599966 - MB51: Use of the
archive information system instead of MARI
and
Note 766911 - DRB: Special archive
information structure
In general I recommend that you get used to SAP notes. It is the most important source when archiving.
Hi Mans,
1 . It depends on the requirement which infostructure you want to choose.Infostructure is nothing but assigned with a field catalog which is nothing but the collection of fields. It depends upon the requirement what data you want to get store in an infostructure after the delete jobs runs for a particular archiving object.
2.Yes, we can activate multiple infostructure for an archiving object. In that case all the infostructure will get field when the delete job runs for a particular archiving object.
