Program variant parameter with value despite "save field without value"

I'm a little surprised by a bug in my ECC 6 EHP 7 system. I see a few old program variants of a custom program, with a parameter P_FILE_1 which has both one non-empty value and the checkbox "save field without value" checked.

If I save the program variant, the value is emptied, as I expect (back to the normal situation).

The program RSVARDOC_610 doesn't fix the issue (note that RSVARDOC_NEW doesn't exist in my system). RSVCHECK says that the program variant is fine.

For information, running the program with such a weird program variant (having both a non-empty value and the checkbox "save field without value" checked), behaves like if the checkbox was not checked, i.e. the parameter field in the selection screen is changed with the value from the program variant.

NB: only one selection screen.

Did you hear about this "bug"? I didn't find any SAP note about it.

How "old" are those variants (which version) and were they created manually (by standard) or thru some FM (I didn't see such bug since 4.6c 😎)

Difficult to say. The versions were "mistakenly" deleted years ago. The programs were created in 2007/2008, one in 2015 but maybe it was created by copying a 2007 program, along with copying its variant under a new name. In 2007/2008, the ABAP version was 7.0 (according to the version I see in the custom IDoc types). In my system, RSVARDOC_610 is SAPKA74023, it doesn't have the note https://me.sap.com/notes/2880704 (SAPKA74024) referred by 2952867. I'm not sure I want to install it just to see if it fixes the bug :-p.

(But has anyone ever mistakenly forgotten to copy versions when updating development from production or not 🤣?)

If and how in the code they would handle the data returned by RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS_255_RFC

• parameter table OBJECTS when OBJECT-NO_IMPORT checked but records (values) exist in VALUTAB
