What is the information flow when Viewing Crystal Reports through DHTML viewer,
How does RAS process the View Report request?
From the forums I understand that RAS (Report Application Server ) comes in to picture while viewing CR report.
In BusinessObjects Admin guide 3.1 on page #119 viewing a report on demand when the default view format is set to Web Java is explained.
In this flow the Cache server and processing server comes in to picture.
What is the flow when RAS will be processing the Viewing Request?
I guess RAS has its own caching mechanism, Right ?
Thanks

RAS used to be leveraged in InfoView when the Advanced DHTML viewer was used to view a Crystal Report. But with the deprecation of the Advanced DHTML viewer, it is now mainly used to serve RAS SDK requests. RAS has it's own caching and paging built in, and has the ability to connect to data sources to fetch a data set.
Edit: Deprecated is the wrong word. It just isn't available via InfoView anymore.

Hi Allen,
Thanks for reply,
As you mentioned DHTL is not available in infoview anymore, so you are talking about BO version above BO xi 3.1 SP2 right?
Also could you please explain the process flow when RAS comes in to picture
Just to give example: Job server (Jobservre.exe) will come in to picture when we schedule any object
Thanks
