Process Chains not working

Former Member

Hi Experts,

Our BI Testing system has been refreshed from Prod System and all the restroing and activations are done. Now the problem is,

The process chains are not running in QA. They are still running fine in Prod and updating the cube.

I tried the following:

- Resheduled them after removing from schedule.

- Re-Activated them and rescheduled them.

They are still not updating the cube and also I cannot even see them running in SM37 !!!

Then I tried following:

- I created copy of them, removed start variant and redefined it, and deleted the previous ones.

In this case I can see them running in SM37 but still they are not updating the Cubes !!!

Can anyone please help me in this issue <removed by moderator> ??

Thanks, Akash.

Hi,

Is there any ODS on this flow before your cube. Is your datasource use PSA or not? In infopackage have many option : PSA only, PSA and data target? which option you have choosed here?

Hello Truc,

There is no ODS/DSO in the flow.

The option that was choosen is 'Data Target Only' and then the Cube was selected.

Hi Akash bw

As you mentioned I guess this process chain has not finished successful. Please check log of this process chain and you will find which step is terminated

Hope this helps

Hi Akash,

Suppose if you are working on 3.5 system . Goto process chain right click on the Infopackge check the error message which are loading to cube.

If you are working on BI Infopackges are able to load the data upto PSA only. From PSA to Datatargets

Thoguh DTP we can load the data.

If you need more details please let me know.

Thanks

Hello Nagaraju. V,

The system I'm working on is BI 7 but the infopackages are in 3.5 version.

As I said, I'm not being able to check the Process Chain failures as they are not visible in SM37.

And also when I copied and re-run, I can see them running but after the loading process it remains green (continuing..) and I cannot see any Data in cube.

Any idea ??

Hi Akash,

As you said Process chain completed successfully without any issues. May be problem with Source system.

I hope Infopackages are picking Zero records and getting successfull. If this is the case, there may be no data avaliable in source system. Let me know if you have any further queries.

Hello Kotesh,

Yes you are right.

Thats what exactly happened when I ran the copied process chain.

How to fix this problem ?

Cause I know the BI source system was not refreshed but copied from ECC source system.

And I believe the problem is somewhere there..

May be because of Client Name change/overwrite !!

any idea ??

Hi,

If the problem in source system, you just go to source system and right click , restore

Hope this helps

I restored the source system, replicated and activated the datasources.

I have even tried with new infopackage but still its not fixed.

any further idea ?

may be problem in ecc side ?

Hi Akash bw

Go to ECC side, test this extractor. (RSA3)

Hello Truc,

So I should look for Data Avaliabilty there in ECC (RSA3), right ?

Anything else to check ?

Hi,

Yes, you should check data available in ECC . If extractor testing is no record, the problem is not in BI system datasource. Then you have to check all procedures if your datasource is LIS datasource. There are some steps in setup table to have data or if your datasource is generic datasource, you check again table/view/FM which your datasource base on.

Hope this helps

Hello Truc,

The datasource is not generic and not LIS either.

It's a CATS datasource.

I dont have access to the system atm so when I would check,

If I dont see any data then do u think it'd be becasue of some problem with ECC QA Copy from ECC Prod ?

Hi,

If you run infopackage successful (green status) but no data come, the problem is probably in source system side. If the problem in connection or BI system your request can not finish successful. Only log on source system and test extractor can tell you what are problems in it. May be in QA system is not data for this datasource.

Hello Truc,

But another problem is I can see Process Chain ran fine but When I check the Data Target (Cube),

Under manage I dont see any request ID. I dont see any row with the date when the process chain was run.

Why's that ?

Hi,

Oh, may be it is only in PSA table. To check it you go to this datasource , right click, manage. If the request is exist there, it meant that you only load data to PSA table. In this case, you have to create DTP and transformation to load data to cube . This is new data flow of BI 7.0.

Hope this helps

Hello Truc,

The implementation was done in BW 3.x version in BI 7.

So I there are Active Update Rules available. But still there're no request shown in Cube(manage).

any other idea ??
