Process chain administration

Former Member

Hi experts,

I'm looking for some good training material (or a collection of answers) on "day to day" administration of process chains.

Some areas of interest:

1) What to do when a infopackage stops in the middle of a process chain. I.e aspects regarding recovery from failure. E.g do we need to execute the subsequent steps manually or can the chain be rescheduled and continue where it failed...

2) Monitoring

3) Stopping process chains during execution - impacts

4) Rescheduling

4) ... etc

Thanks for any answers!

Regards,

David

Hi David,

1] apart from Sriram Suggession, u have to try to rectify the error and the repeat the process in the chain itself so that the other processes in the chain also gets triggered once the failed process finishes successfully. It is not aloowing for the repeat option then try to trigger manually one after other as per the sequence in the chain.

2] U can monitor the process chain using the T-code RSPC inthat go to Log viwe which will show ur process chain status. U can use BWCCMS also for monitoring and SM37 for the job status and RSMO for the diffrent load status.

If any fail occurs in the chain then the process which get the red, if it is running then it will be with Yello, it is finished then it will get Green color.

3]U can stop ur process while running also. By by going into RSPC - select ur process chain. then goto Menu process chain-> Remove from schedule.

Any process which is running will continue to run and it wil finishes after some time. Other process wont get triggered. If u want u can manually trigger them.

4]U can reschedule ur process chain by going into the scheduler screen, u can use the available option then execute it in the RSPC.

Hope I made it clear..

Thanks alot guys!

Where will I find that "repeat option" if it exists? I would gladly see the program that fixes this also. My mail is cruptos@yahoo.se.

Hi David,

I'll try my best to answer u.

1. If the infopackage fails with the status Red, the process will be status Ended with errors. And there will be option to repeat it. If you repeat and the load succeeds, then there is no problem. Or else you can repeat the chain from the next step. If you dont find that repeat option, there is one program to change the status of the previous process, which automatically triggers the next step. ( if you give me ur mail id, ill forwrd the code)

2. Monitoring process chain is as gud as monitoring individual process in the chain. There might be different process types which might have been included in the chain. There will be a background job for each step. You can monitor this job and you will get a detailed log also.

3. You can stop the process chain during execution. If a background job is running for a particular step, u can cancel the job to stop the chain. The process will end with error and the chaiin will not proceed. The impact depends on the scenario. If its a masterdata load, you might have to load all the masterdata individually before loading transaction data.

4. Rescheduling: I'm not very sure what u meant by rescheduling. If you explain it.. ill try to answer.

Hope this helps
