Problem with Linux Server on VMware for NW GW trial

Hi,

I am trying to setup the NW GW trial and downloaded the SUSE testdrive VMWare image. Trying to run it on VMWare Server 2.0.2 runs into an error message on startup: "This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU".

I have an Intel i5 660 CPU@3.33GHz, so it is 64 Bit and supports virtualization (http://ark.intel.com/products/43550/Intel-Core-i5-660-Processor-(4M-Cache-3_33-GHz) ).

Anything else I forgot to consider?

Thanks, Hans-Juergen

Hi Hans-Juergen,

One of the problems that I've see happen a couple of times is that there is a BIOS setting for virtualization. I've always experienced this in the off setting. Once that is enabled then I was able to run the VMware image.

Regards,

Wayne

Since I can't access the BIOS myself (somehow blocked), I opened a ticket and hope IT will do so...

Thx, Hans-Juergen
