Portal with Oracle Database Installation question

Hi All

We are installing Portal 6.0 on Oracle database 10.

We have Two JAVA Dialog Instances running on two separate hosts (Host 1 and Host 2) and One Central Instance and Database running on another host (Host 3).

When we installed CI , it did not install Oracle Client on Host 3 (as per my understanding we do not require Oracle client on host-3 as it is in-built within Oracle kernel running on Host 3)

Also, when we installed JAVA Dialog Instances on Host1 and Host 2 , it did not install Oracle Client either.

So, my questions are:-

1) Do we need Oracle Client Installed on JAVA Dialog Instances on Host1 and Host 2?

2) Does JAVA Dialog instance communicate to Database via CI? i.e every request made via JAVA dialog Instance goes to CI host first and then to database?

Thank you

Hai,

Where CI and DBI installed there you need the oracle server software

where DI is installed there you need to install the oracle client software

These are must..........
