Portal Runtime Error

Hi All,

I have created a new user in the portal and have added the Content Admin workset to that role. What I'm trying to achieve is to have the content admin and sys admin worksets assigned to this new role and make them read-only. So the user assigned this role can only view system settings and content admin folders without having the ability to create new content or modify current setting of the system. I'm thinking this should be possible? Please do correct me if I'm worng.

After adding the worksets to the role I added the new user to the permissions area for this role and made its access permissions read and checked the end-user box.

After assigning the role to the user I get the following error in the Portal Content area of the the iView:

Portal Runtime Error

An exception occurred while processing a request for :

iView : N/A

Component Name : N/A

Access denied (Object: com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/medium_safety/com.sap.portal.appdesigner.contentcatalog/components/Framework).

Exception id: 11:30_06/08/06_0005_6679450

See the details for the exception ID in the log file.

Also, assigning the user the Java Developer role, I get the following error:

Portal Runtime Error

An exception occurred while processing a request for :

iView : N/A

Component Name : N/A

Access denied (Object: com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/high_safety/com.sap.portal.runtime.system.console/components/ClusterAdminConsole).

Exception id: 11:31_06/08/06_0006_6679450

Any ideas to why this could be happening?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Tony,

You need to give end_user_read permissions to the secuirty zones.

Check this link for more infos:

Hi Praveen,

I checked the security permissions for end user. The error is occuring under the com.sap.portal.security, under medium safety. The strange thing is, under that zone no medium safety folder exists! ie if I go to System administration->Support, then under the area Portal Runtime...JNDI Browsers...Security Zones Browsers, then com.sap.portal then those folders under this area. Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks

Tony.

Hello Tony,

You are under the right context, but instead of looking under "com.sap.portal" look under "sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal".

This path you can find in your error message:

com.sap.portal.system/security/<b>sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal</b>/medium_safety

BTW: You can also browse to Security zones from

System Administration --> Permissions --> Security Zones

Hope this helps.

Hi Praveen,

Ok so I amended some Security Zones but now when I tried to view a role in the PCD with the read-only user, I get the following PRT Error:

For iView one

-

com.sap.portal.pcm.Title

Portal Runtime Error

An exception occurred while processing a request for :

iView : pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/admin.templates/iviews/editors/com.sap.portal.roleEditorButtons

Component Name : null

Page could not create the iView.

See the details for the exception ID in the log file

-

For iView two:

-

com.sap.portal.pcm.Title

Portal Runtime Error

An exception occurred while processing a request for :

iView : pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/admin.templates/iviews/editors/com.sap.portal.roleEditor

Component Name : null

Page could not create the iView.

See the details for the exception ID in the log file

My guess is that because the user is read only the iViews cannot be created for display. But they should be available to just view (read-only) instead of not showing at all??

Thanks for all your help so far, I appreciate it.

Tony.

Hello Tony,

It seems that you need to define excecution permission for the group EVERYONE on the folder in which the IViews are stored. Also check the permissions of your IView.

In the PCD, navigate to IView. Edit the "Assigned Permissions" and flag the checkbox in the column "End User" for the row "Everyone".

Praveen,

This iViews are not iViews created by me. They are the standard iViews displayed when you try to attempt to edit a role. Where do I set permissions for these? Are they part of the folder 'Content Provided by SAP'?

If so, this already had flagged the Everyone role as End-user. So it shouldn't throw the exception right?

Thanks,

Tony.

Hello Tony,

Here is a link which could give brief idea on permissions set on SAP content:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ab/a954036e164c7eaeca840144f267dd/content.htm

I would suggest to open the IView in PCD and after opening you will see on top rigth Combo-box with entry for Delta link tracing.

If you click this feature, it will open a window showing picture of delta links, there you have an option to "Locate an object in the Portal Catalog".

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/6c/2e8d48a88042e79e1bbb62bbbdce6b/content.htm

This option will take you to the right pcd location, then on this iview, check the permissions.

Greetings,

Praveen Gudapati
