With WebAs 6.40 as the StartupFramework is in use, I would recommend to use the the stopsap command, execute it without parameters to find out the syntax. You would call stopsap first for the portal instance, then for SCS. Finally you could also shutdown the NT service.

For a proper Oracle shutdown, you should use sqlplus /nolog with "connect / as sysdba" followed by "shutdown" to send a shutdown command, then shutdown the NT service.

To shutdown a NT service you would call "net stop <service name>", open the Services applet to find out what your SAP and Oracle services are called.

Francesco,

You could write a simple .bat file using the Windows net command line command.

E.g.

In a script, such as a batch file (*.bat):

net stop "SAP J2EE Engine Server"

To start the engine, you can use:

net start "SAP J2EE Engine Server"

I assume Oracle is installed as a service as well so you could do the same to stop it, then run your backup software with some command line parameters to run the backup?

Cheers,

Steve
