Poll: Requesting feedback on the SQL Anywhere Monitor

Former Member

As part of the process of planning new features for the SQL Anywhere Monitor, we are looking for some feedback:

  1. Do you actively use the SQL Anywhere monitor?
  2. If not, have you ever tried using the SQL Anywhere monitor?
  3. Did the SQL Anywhere Monitor satisfy your needs, or were there key features missing? If so, what?
  4. What other tools do you use for monitoring your servers?
  5. Is monitoring MobiLink servers and Relay servers important to you?

We use mlmon, database profiling more than the SA monitor.

The server log together with some Event script can monitor the server to some extent.

I think, once the server load reach to a heavy extent, the monitoring might be a great help. Thanks.

  1. no
  2. Yes, we have used it.
  3. We were looking for a tool like the SQL Server Profiler, which would tell us what queries are being executed by the server in real time. Except for that, the tool was fine.
  4. Our application uses SA as a built-in database. We don't maintain any separate servers. Our primary need is fine tuning our queries to run as quickly as possible.
  5. No

With regards to (3), have you taken a look at Application Profiling (http://dcx.sybase.com/index.html#sa160/en/dbusage/perform-s-4478058.html) in SQL Anywhere? Although it is not real time, you may find it useful.
