also check if oss note 604128 relevant.

hope this helps.
oss note 604128
Symptom
Long runtimes occur when you update 0HR_PA_0 and 0HR_PA_1 InfoSources into InfoCube 0PA_C01 or 0HR_PA_OS_1 InfoSource into InfoCube 0PAOS_C01.
Other terms
InfoSource, update rules, routine, 0EMPLOYEE, 0PERSON, 0HRPOSITION, master data, attributes
Solution
Performance-enhancing corrections, which could reduce the runtime by approximately 10%, have been made in includes RS_BCT_HR_PAPA_UPDATE_RULES and RS_BCT_HR_PAOS_UPDATE_RULES, which are used in the delivered update rules of InfoCubes 0PA_C01 and 0PAOS_C01.

Hi Nathan,
Performance is a critical issue in developing a data warehouse because of the size of data in the system. The following link will take you through various performing tuning issues like BW statistics,System administration assistant,Tuning query performance and load performance.
Awarding points is the way to say thanks in SDN!!!

Balaji
