patches/updates to Crystal Reports 2008 and CR for VS2010

My machine crashed and we had to resinstall all applications. One of them is Crystal Reports 2008 Full Developer and the other is SAP Crystal Reports version for Visual Studio 2010 both are running on Server2003 R2 32bit. I have gone ahead and did the base install for both of these and I would like to apply any patches/updates.

I would like to make sure that I install the right patches and in the right order. Please provide me the link for doing this with the correct order even if it's something as obvious as I need SP0 or SP1. Below is what I have for current versions of each product.

CR Developer

Version 12.0.0.683

Product Type: Full

SAP Crystal Reports ,version for Visual Studio 2010

version 13.0.1.220

Thanks for the Help.

Hello,

Open a new tab and copy this URL and then Click on the Business Analytics tab above. Then on the right click on the SAP Crystal Solution Support and then Downloads and you'll find the CR 2008 patch available there. Cr for VS 2010 SP 2 is at the bottom of this page where you will find SP2:

Followed directions and I see

Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack Crystal Reports 2008 - Service Pack 1 - Full Build ZIP 425.112 Windows English 11.05.2011

Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack Crystal Reports 2008 - Service Pack 3 Full Build ZIP 501.336 Windows English 22.07.2010

Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack Crystal Reports 2008 - Service Pack 3 EXE 333.656 Windows English 26.05.2010

Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack CR Basic for VS 2008 - SP 1 - Japanese Language Pack EXE

I just want to confirm. I don't need sp0 so if I just install the NON Full Build service pack 1(I have this), service pack 2, service pack 3, service pack 4, I will be ok?

Thanks,

Start with SP3 full build and then SP4 incremental.

Don I am getting a prompt that says "another version of this product is already installed" do I need to uninstall "Crystal Reports 2008" and if so when I install this SP3 full build is that going to be just like what I have installed now which is "Full developer Version of Crystal Reports 2008"??

Thanks,

Correct, SP3 full build requires an uninstall first. Or if you want to do the incremental then that's your option also. It's just a lot of downloading. Simply easier to uninstall and install a full build.

Be aware that if you do it will prompt for the keycode so make sure you have it available, we can't give you a new one.

Thanks

Ok Don, I am now on version Crystal reports 2008 12.4.0.966 So I have the latest SP3 Full build and the incremental sp4. Why do I still have a problem with the orientation for the page setup??

This is a bug that is reported to be fixed by SAP service pack 3

ADAPT01083203

Crystal Reports 2008 SP3

When a report is printed on a Zebra printer in Crystal Reports 2008, and the paper size selected is wider than it is tall, the paper

orientation for the report is automatically changed from portrait to landscape.

Also, the option "Dissociate Formating Page Size and Printer Paper Size" fails to correct this problem.

New Behavior:

This problem is resolved.

Modified Components:

Windows craxddrt.dll

crpe32.dll

CRViewer.dll

crw32.exe

PrintControl.dll

Known Limitations:

I have checked the "Dissociate Formatting option"

and it shows user defined but as soon as I put in 8.00 for the horizontal and 5.00 for the vertical, the orientation gets switched to Landscape, what is wrong?

Hi Moe,

Who's Zebra driver are you using, we've only tested the fix with the Zebra Drivers, no third party drivers.? If you define that custom paper size in the Zebra Setup does that work?

Try a new report to see if that works also.

I am using zebra provided driver for zebra printer model 220 Xi 4. The driver is Zdesigner version 2.6.63(build 3216)

I have setup width of the media for the zebra printers to be 8.00in width and height to be 5.0in and the orientation is set to be portrait. It still doesn't work.

This is using a brand new blank report.

The size is set on the zebra as follows

right click printqueue and go to properties -- > Off "General Tab" --> printing preferences -- > Go to the size section and enter the width, height of the label.

Are you testing in CR Designer or in .NET app? Winform Viewer or the viewer in the IDE?

Is the No Printer Checked on?

What happens if you create a new Printer and set the paper size and orientation that as your default printer?

I don't believe it will take the changes if the app is running, at that point CR has already loaded the Printer Properties.

I am testing in the Crystal report designer so I am doing this by going to file --> page setup

I tried both check and unchecking the "No Printer" with no luck.

OK, so this post started off with re-installing, now it's a Zebra printer problem....

Please mark as answered and post a new for the Zebra issue.

Look I don't have a problem with moving this post to another section of the forum, I just don't want to go explain everything to someone from scratch that's why I decided to point this problem out to you. Send me the link to where you think this post is most appropriate and I will happy to put it there.

We try to keep one issue per post so if someone does a search it's clear and not full of multiple issues or questions.

If it's an issue in CR Designer then in this forum. If it's an issue when printing from your .NET app then post to this forum:

Thanks
