Passing parameters between XCelsius dashboards using BI direct connection

Hello,

We are replacing our existing dashboards to use new BICS connection. With the old connections we could use flash variables to pass parameters from swf to swf. But with the BICS connection we are not able to do so.

Is it possible to pass parameters between Xcelsius dashboards which use the BI direct connection (BICS).

Is it possible to make use of command URL's similar to those used in web templates?

Thanks,

Bindu

Unfortunately not possible. Take a look at following thread:

Hello Victor,

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that we could use the command URL's like

?BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE, instead of using flash variables, but I guess not.

In help.sap.com they mention something,

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/a7/cf8eb357f3498e9575050990b42fd7/frameset.htm

But not sure how to implement this.

Thanks,

Bindu.

hi Bindu,

The steps are detailed in this article:

You want to leverage BEx variables that will be set dynamically by URL parameters. The URL parameters are the same than with a BEx Web Report. This is documented and discussed in these links :

It worked fine with SAP BW 7.01 SP5 but after the upgrade to SP8 it doesn't work for dashboards anymore, only for BEx queries. Do you have an idea ? I suppose because the default dashboard excecution is stateless now but even when I force the statefull ececution with STATELESS=%20 it still doesn't work.

Refer to SAP Note 1580524, you may apply that note correction or upgrade to 7.01 SP10 to solve this problem.
