Parenthesis in Formulas in Queries

I would like to use parenthesis in my formula in a query. However after I close down the formula the parenthesis disappear... isn't there a way to control the order of the calculation in a formula?

Hi Daniel,

doesn't it work the usual way??

  • : before + -

What's the formula?

((Invoice amount/Invoice Quantity)/Total year value)-1

When I enter the "(" the text gets red, however the checker says that the syntax is fine. When I close the formula and then open it again the "(" are gone!

Any ideas?

Hi Daniel,

I think that is because they are not necessary in that formula. It is following the basic rules that Michael already explained: /* before +-

Lets try:

((Invoice amount/Invoice Quantity)/Total year value)-1

Invoice amount = 100

Invoice Quantity = 10

Total year value 1000

with the "(" the result would be:

((100/10)/1000)-1 => (10/1000)-1 => 0,01-1= -0,99

without the "(" the result would be:

100/10/1000-1= -0,99

You are absolutly right! The "(" are automatically removed when they are not necessary.

Best Regards
