Parameter passing to report rendered using BOE

Hi,

I am currently using the infoObject model to pass parameter to the report rendered from BOE using crystalreportviewer .NET control setting its paramterfieldinfo, enterpriseLogon and reportSource property...

Is there any other way to pass parameter to the report from .NET application?

Thanks

Kajal

You have two other options.

1. Set them against the Report object and then commit it back to the Infostore before viewing. This may cause concurrency issues if multiple users choose different values at the same time.

2. Not use the Infoobject model and use the ReportClientDocument. This option is more flexible, but does not have as good of performance for viewing reports.

1. This means that the method that uses infoObject model is the best method if paramter need to be passed to the report ? Will infoObject model also have concurrency issue like the reportDocument model?

2. If parameter is not being passed to the report then is it better o use 'ReportClientDocument' model rather than 'InfoObject' model since it is faster? Is it ok to mix models in a single application?

3. Are there any disadvantage or issues related to using the infoObject model?

Thanks

infoObject model concurrency is based only on your enterprise licensing.

Only time that you should be using the ReportClientDocument model is if you need to manipulate the report. Change the database information the report is connecting to, modify fields in the report, etc.

3. Are there any disadvantage or issues related to using the infoObject model?

infoObject model is limited in functionality, mainly so that is is optimized strictly for viewing the report.

Here is a page that discusses the different scenarios:
