NCOA job fails if input is less than 100 records!

We have an NCOA job that runs fine normally. But it has started failing with following error:

(12.2) 04-12-12 15:26:25 (E) (21827:1673134752) DFC-250038: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA Sub data flow <DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_1> terminated due to error <58302>. (12.2) 04-12-12 15:26:25 (E) (21827:1218722112) FIL-080134: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA|Pipe Listener for DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_1 Named pipe error occurred: <EOF> (12.2) 04-12-12 15:26:25 (E) (21827:1252280640) FIL-080134: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA|Pipe Listener for DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_2 Named pipe error occurred: <EOF> (12.2) 04-12-12 15:26:30 (E) (21726:1293525664) DFC-250038: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA Sub data flow <DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_1> terminated due to error <58302>.

I took a large input file from a successful run and kept on reducing the number of records in the file - it turns out the 'good' file too starts failing if the number of records fall below 100.

I am not sure if 100 is some magic number, but it's really baffling the same job would start failing in such a way.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I think I found the answer here - scn.sap.com/message/10133410

So if I understand it right, it's the USPS NCOALink requirement to have at least 100 unique record for NCOA processing. And Data Services (12.2.3.1) does not include any option to disable this check.

Can somebody confirm this?

Thanks,
Gaurav

Gaurav,

Yes, this is a USPS requirement.  At one point, it was our understanding that this verification was not required by the software but the USPS confirmed that the software must perform this verification.

Thanks Brandon. It's an interesting restriction. It would help a lot if Data Services generates meaningful error. "Pipe Listener for DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_2 Named pipe error occurred" is way too generic and not helpful at all.

Where and/or when do you see that error?  When I run a job in the Designer without 100 unique records I see the following:

There should be at least 100 unique input records for NCOALink processing. Please verify your input file..

Brandon

That's interesting.

I am running the job on our server. The error I reported is from the Job Error log on the admin console, after the job stops with error. I do not see anything else other than the following three lines:

(12.2) 04-12-12 15:00:33 (E) (17403:2911171232) DFC-250038: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA

Sub data flow <DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_1> terminated due to error <58302>.

(12.2) 04-12-12 15:00:33 (E) (17403:1274239296) FIL-080134: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA|Pipe Listener for DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_2

Named pipe error occurred: <EOF>

(12.2) 04-12-12 15:00:33 (E) (17399:188412576) DFC-250038: |Dataflow DF_COMMON_NCOA

Sub data flow <DF_COMMON_NCOA_1_1> terminated due to error <58302>.

I will try to run this from the designer to see if I get the error you mentioned.

Thanks,
Gaurav
