MY FEW QUESTIONS

Former Member

Hello All,

I am on basis 620.

I am developing some reports (ex : purchasing Analysis , sales flow etc) mostly generic reports.

Can i use BSP for such requirements or what is the best fit for BSP , Why do we need it in first place?.

What should i do to make a normal report to BSP enabled??

Does it make sense to convert a normal report to BSP enabled , how does it help ?

My idea is some how to learn BSP so curious to get replies.

Rgds,

Mano Sri

yes you can.

<i>What should i do to make a normal report to BSP enabled??</i>

to Webenable a report you could use ITS or BSP - with ITS you dont have much control over its look and feel and navigations, where as in BSP you will have total control over it

<i>Does it make sense to convert a normal report to BSP enabled , how does it help ?</i>

unless otherwise , you want to place your reports in the web , then there is no need to use BSP at all.

BSP - Business Server Pages is a technology to serve html pages to web browser where the server side script is written in ABAP

<i>My idea is some how to learn BSP so curious to get replies.</i>

to learn BSP you need good understanding of

1. ABAP

2. HTTP protocol

3. some HTML, DHTML, and javascripts

dont worry too much about point 3 and 4.

just start developing using the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c8/101c3a1cf1c54be10000000a114084/content.htm">tutorial</a>.

also check out the BSP weblogs area.

Hi Mano,

You can use BSP for developing reports Sometimes it is necessary to provide reports on Purchase,Sale to your partner who may not have SAP system, which in turn make entire process easy. Most important it is Web-enabled.Not in all cases it make sense to convert normal report to BSP enabled, but it could be business need. You can start learning BSP throught this link.

You can take help of BSP forum in SDN.

Hi Mano,

You can develop a web enabled report using BSP. For that you need to code using HTML/HTMLB and ABAP.

To be familiar to BSP the best way is to go for help.sap.com, the below link:

help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/ en/e9/bb153aab4a0c0ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm

For further help SDN is already there.

Ravikiran.
