Hi MDM Experts

What is the approach if we want MDM with EP as front end, consider if we need to have Vendor, Customer or Material master with EP as front end and with Create, Change and Delete options and with workflow capability and what is the process, Do SAP provides standard out of box solution.

Hi Vickey,

Please refer to the link below for the MDM and EP integration:

Accessing MDM Repositoryu2019s Data and Edit It, Create New Records through Portal

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40ac1b5b-d33e-2b10-5892-b29c890e...

For using the MDM Workflows in EP, you can integrate the UWL with MDM. Then you will be able to view and use the Workflow capability of MDM in Portal.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Vickey,

SAP has already shipped standard iViews to establish EP-MDM communication. You need to perform the following:

1. Deploy the SCA files available with the MDM Installables. Following are the SCA files to be deployed

a> MDMJAVAAPI

b> BPMDMAPPL

c> BPMDMTECH

2. Restart the Portal server once after successful deployment

3. Create the MDM System and pass the desired parameters like MDM Servername, Repository and perform the User Mapping.

4. Create the desired iViews and place them in the page as per the desired layout.

5. For Wokflows, you can configure UWL for MDM.

If you are looking for some specific information, kindly update this us.

Thanks All for the response,

If we add custom fields in the standard repositories then will the standard portal content support these fields what is the alternative if not.

Hi Vickey,

Whenever you create MDM system and pass the repository name, it fetches all the fields from the repository so it is not bounded to standard repositories or standard fields present in the repository. Whenever you modify the structure of the repository the same will be available in EP.

Hi Vickey,

The standard Iviews can be used for any MDM repository. You can add or delete any field from the standard business content of MDM or else create a new repository in MDM.

Custom Iviews are required in case the business requirement demands certain features or functionlaties which are not provided by the Standard Iviews.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Vickey,

You can use the SAP EP as the front end and SAP MDM as the backend if you want to facilitate the Material,Customer and Vendor creation form EP in to SAP MDM.

All you need to do is integarte these 2 systems and you can use the standard MDM iviews in portal to connect and use the MDM functionality in EP like Create,Modify,Delete etc..

You can also use the MDM workflows as designed in the MDM backend and called on the Portal front end by using the UWL in EP.

Most of these are standard connections however if you want some additional functionalities which MDM does not provide you can use EP customization for it.

Kindly Follow the below links to know more in this:
