Max enqueue processes possible

Commonly there is only one enqueue work process for a single SAP system; however there are circumstances

where, for performance reasons, it might be useful to configure up to four enqueue work processes.

Can anybody explain me :

1) Why only one enqueue work process recommended.

2) The scenario for 4 enqueue work processes. Disadvantages that need 4 enqueue work processes to overcome.

3) Advantages of 4 or more(if possible) enqueue work processes.

4) From which version onwards defining 4 enqueue work processes are possible.

Thank you

With regards,

This might be helpful as well: [SAP Lock Concept|]

One reason to have more than one enqueue process is for HA setups. The other is a performance one where the enqueue time is getting higher.

Here is a note that might also be helpful:

Hope that helps.
