Master Data Update

Hi

I am having a problem with update rules for vendors. I have extended the existing datasource to include two new fields. When running infosource to update the master data with the new fields, for some reason the update rules are not recognising that the master has changed, and so I am unable to populate the new fields in BW. I can see the new field values in the PSA, they are just not feeding through the update rules to 0vendor. Is there any way of forcing it to replace all existing master data.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Simon,

You cmay try to delete master data completely and then reload data again.

If you get an error, then probably there is some mismatch between IO structure, TRs and URs.

If data get loaded but without new fields, then there is definitely something wrong with TRs or URs logic.

Hi,

Have you executed 'Change attribute run' for this object after loading data.the newly loaded data (modified or new records) are stored with 'M' version. So that new data is not available immediately .To turn into it active form we need to do this process.

With rgds,

Hi Simon,

Have you included the InfoObjects to hold the data of these new fields in your 0vendor as attributes, and also in the communication structure? If this is in place, try to map accordingly in the updates rules.

Hope this helps...

I have mapped all the update rules up correctly. I get a message from update rules saying from 29000 records, 0 New / 0 Changed, so it is not overwriting vendors at this stage. I have done this many times for other characteristics and attributes without problem, so this is really frustrating

If you say that the data is there is the PSA, and the Update rules are maintained with the InfoObject in the comm structure mapping to the InfoObject from 0vendor attr, then this looks good. Could you check the transfer rules mapping too...

Have checked transfer rules, comm structure and update rules. I am using flexible update for 0vendor, does this need any special consideration?

Flexible update does not need any other consideration except that the update rules are maintained. May be you could attempt a debug (Simulate Update) and see where the system is throwing it away...
