Master Data InfoSource (Flexible update)

Hello Everyone,

I have a small doubt regarding a Master Data InfoSource (Flexible Update). I see that there are two data targets for this infosource. They are Attribute data target and text data target.

My question is, do i have to create 2 separate InfoPackages to load the 2 data targets (one each for attribute and text) or a single infopackage will be enough for both.

I created an infopackage and chose Attribute data target. When i checked the contents, i see that even the text data target is populated with data even though i didn't choose it in the infopackage. Also, i get multiple entries for each record (time period 1000-1899 record and time-period 1900-9999 record). How to get only a single entry.

Could someone help.

Thanks.

Usually fex infosources of format ATTRTEXT does load into attribute and text. Even though it is one IS, it has two transfer rules separetly. You will have to create 2 infopackages to load the data.

Regarding the date ranges, the infoobject is a time-dependent infoobject. so its common to have that. If you want to have a single period, in update tab of infopackage choose the start date as 01/01/1000. that should solve it.

hope it helps

Hi Sachin,

This post should help to clarify why different records exist with different to and from dates:

Hi Gokul and Bhanu,

Thanks for your inputs. But, for the InfoSource ATTR_TEXT, there is only one Transfer Rule. As i said, when i choose Attribute as the data target in the infopackage i created and scheduled, data appears in both the data targets even though text is not chosen in the infopackage.

What is the reason for this.

Thanks.

Hi Sachin

I take it your Source data has both attributes and texts in it.

When you use a Flexible InfoSource in this way, you have a single DataSource, Transfer Structure, Transfer Rules & Communication Structure. There will be 2 update rules which is where the split between Attributes and texts occurs.

You only need 1 InfoPackage because you have only defined a single datasource assignment to the InfoSource (unless you split your load into smaller chunks).

Hope that helped.

Thanks
