Dear Colleagues ,

As we are going to start the productive development using RAP framework, So the first basic question which comes to my mind is , When to use Managed UUID Vs Managed Semantic.

What is the key difference between these two ?

Ay pros and Cons , of one over the other ?

What sounds like a simple question spans lots of pages in our documentation where we talk about numbering.

Numbering | SAP Help Portal

A UUID based key is ideal in a green field scenario where an early managed numbering can be used. If you can use such an approach is definitly the way to go because it is the easiest one.

In a managed semantic scenario you will have to implement business logic that will determine a unique key (for example by drawing numbers from a number range).

This could be definitely the way to go when you have to use gap free numbering which would require you to implement later numbering.

Unmanaged Internal Late Numbering | SAP Help Portal

Another situation where a managed semantic scenario would be required is when the tables you want to write to already exist and if those tables have semantic key fields.

Andre already mentioned about key point that is Numbering.

Besides numbering, you have to consider if you are going to create Draft or Non-draft application.

If it is draft and late numbering application, then you must go with managed UUID. Please see attached documentation.
