Limit query execution time in Database

Hi,

I would like to limit the time a query runs from WebIntelligence within the database. I have already updated the Universe Parameter Controls "Limit execution time to" to be 10 minutes. However, when I execute a complex query, the query keeps running in database. I have to kill it manually in database everytime. How can this be avoided and not let the query run in Database after particular time?

Regards,

RAG

You don't mention which database vendor you are using, but in my experience in using SQL Server 2000, the limit placed on the BusObjects application merely "kills" the query within the app but permits it to continue running on the database server. On our database server we have placed a limitation of time that corresponds with the limit as Amr points out is done on the universe as well. When the time limit is reached both jobs go away but only because the BusObjects app has killed it on the apps server and SQL Server has killed it on the database server. Good luck!

thats can be done in the unvierse designer

import the universe

go to the parameter window of the universe

select the "Controls" tab

apply the "limit execution time to",,, put the time you want

good luck
