LDAP_RFC as windows service

Former Member

Hi,

We are running ldap_rfc on the apps servers of our Sol Man system (SMP)

to run LDAPConnector.

Following are the connect strings:

d:\usr\sap\SMP\D01\exe ldap_rfc u2013a LDAP_RFC u2013x sapgw01 u2013g sfrncorssm41

We are successful in replication all directory users onto SAP user

management.

When we are trying to run this LDAP_RFC into a windows service using

sc install "ldap.bat -log none" -b c:\ldap.bat -p service

(the ldap.bat file containing - ldap_rfc u2013a LDAP_RFC u2013x sapgw01 u2013g

sfrncorssm41), we are getting the below error:

u201Csc install u2013 unrecognized commandu201D

Please advise.

Thanks in advance,

Abdul

Hi Abdul,

This is the command that I'd use to create that service:

sc create SAPLDAP_RFC binPath= "d:\usr\sap\SMP\D01\exe ldap_rfc u2013a LDAP_RFC u2013x sapgw01 u2013g sfrncorssm41" type= own start= auto

Let me know if you have any problem,

Thanks for your answers.

I have been able to install the service. However, when I try to start the service, it gives me the message: Could not start the SAPLDAP_RFC service on Local Computer. Error 5: Access is denied.

I have tried chaning logon details from Administrator to <SID>ADM, but doesnt help.

Any clues?

Regards,

Abdul

Abdul,

Change the credetial of the service, for example using SAPService<SID> or other user with enough permissions.

Hi Zareh,

I have checked with both the users SIDadm and SAPServiceSID, both have not helped.

Any other suggestions?

I think the command used to start the service was wrong

Do this, delete the service with the following command:

sc delete SAPLDAP_RFC

Recreate with this:

sc create SAPLDAP_RFC binPath= "d:\usr\sap\SMP\D01\exe\ldap_rfc service -a LDAP_RFC -x sapgw01 -g sfrncorssm41" type= own start= auto

HI,

The <service_name> failed to start due to the following error: Access is denied.

Dialog box when starting the service:

Could not start the <service_name> service on
<host>

Error 0005: Access is denied.

Cause: The user who starts the service has no access to the share SAPMNT or SAPLOC. Grant the user total access to the shares.
