KM migration

Hello all,

We are doing migration from EP5 SP5 to EP6 SP13 ,for some reason decided not to use migration tool.

We migrated PCD,XML Forms & etc., using export/import ,ICE and some manual actions. Now we need to migrate all KM documents with predefined properties(metadata). We have already defined all the properties in EP6. Our problem: all metadata is lost while using ICE.

What should we do to migrate all the documents with their metadata properties.

Regards,

Rika

Hi Rika,

sorry for the bad news but the only way to bring all

metadata over to the target is by means of the migration

tools; that's exactly what they were developed for.

You could try exposing one system to the other through WebDAV and see whether the properties you're interested

in are among those that WebDAV takes care of.

Hello Helmut,

Thank you for quick response ,

I have an additional question, if I want to use the migration tool for <b>documents migrate only</b>, do I have to upgrade EP5 SP5 to SP6? Can I use migration tools for migrate documents directly from EP5 SP5 to EP6 SP13?

May be you can point me for documentation and download link for this kind of migration.

Regards,

Rika.

Not sure what you mean by 'documents'; if that happens

to refer to the '/documents' repository then the answer

is: No, you can't do selective migration.

The purpose of the migration tools is to bring the content from the source as a whole to the target. No

filtering, selection, cleanup of outdated user data

or any other administrative features that belong to a

typical system or content admin's domain of tasks.

Oops and the posting was gone; I wanted to add that

you can't migrate of any release earlier than the one

defined in the migration documents, simply because the

migration tools contain sql statements that expect

tables to be available in a certain layout with the

right records in the right place.

Thank you very much for the answer,

As I understand, I can migrate all KM repositories by migration tools. What will happen to repositories that are already defined in EP6? Will they be overwritten?

In addition, I am trying to check WEB DAV protocol,

Unfortunately, in EP5 in folder -> details -> properties -> access links I can't see WEB DAV Url, just explorer URL is visible. Some configuration problem?

Thank you ,

Rika

The repository manager configuration aka definition will

remain, possibly merged with the configuration from the

source if the same RM configuration exists there.

The repository manager content though will be wiped out

if the RM implementation is based on the database, e.g.

any CMRepositoryManager.
