Is there a documentation on DCX changes?

(Preface: I don't know whether this question belongs here, but DCX has no general comment area, AFAIK. And that's such a fine meta-meta-question...)

The DCX software seems to have changed again, now showing up as version 4.1.

I usually take note of some changed labels with German text ... it's still somewhat inappropriate to have a localized UI when looking at a non-localized doc set - and no, I don't want to be the firstsecond to leave comments on the German doc set:)

Is there any resource like a change log for DCX?

Or am I to consider these changes not that relevant?

Note, this is not a subjective question: I'm just unaware what has changed in DCX in the course of time - except that more and more doc sets are contained. In a way it just works, and it's great as a link collection for this forum as well. (And yes, Breck, it could be faster:))

A connected issue:

Is there a way to change the UI to another locale?

Obviously DCX 4.1 allows me to switch between a doc set in different locales - I would prefer to switch the UI...

FWIW, since a few days the DCX home page has a "What's New" section (or at least that's when it grabbed my attention:) - and of course it's localized to your browser's language:

Well done, as usual!

I agree that we should document DCX changes and it is high on our list of changes that should come in the next little while.

Beside this forum DCX is a outstanding feature for SQL Anywhere. Could you show the site to the PowerDesigner guys. It would be great if they could use souch a system for their part. Hope you don't mind this meta-meta-meta-offtipc content 😉

@Thomas: I just noticed that PD 16.1 is available on DCX now, so that suggestion obviously wasn't to meta-meta:)

At present, there is no "changes to DCX" page. I mentioned it to the developer.

DCX uses the browser locale. You probably can launch multiple Firefox instances and make one English and the other German or something like that. There is nothing in the bookmarks either.

Thanks for the suggestion with a second browser instance - that works well.

I imagine the UI is based on your browser and what language it tells DCX it is using.

Yes, you're correct: When I change the "favourite languages" setting in Firefox to prefer "en" or "en-us", the DCX site is displayed as desired.

Now I'd like to know whether I can set this on a per-site base (or use a particular URL)... Any hint is highly appreciated:)

I confirm what Philippe says, the DCX "framework" is controlled exclusively by the browser language setting. We are having a features discussion soon and I will include this suggestion.

Fresh news:

The newly styled DocCommentXchange Version 4.2 has introduced a UI button to choose the display language, so it's no longer browser-based, and of course it has its "What's New" section updated... both are shown at the buttom of the home page.

So all the suggestions from this FAQ have been implemented - that's much more than I have expected, so time to say thanks:)

FWIW, the "smarter" collection list displays the English doc set as standard (i.e. without naming the language) - yes, that's alright with me:)

Where exactly is the "What's new in DCX 4.2"?

It's at the bottom of the homepage.

(Yes, one might start to rant over non-existing web UI standards...)
