Is it possible to pass in several values into a parameter or subreport?

Hello,

I have a field which needs to be selected as a parameter and then passed into multiple subreports using the subreport links. In a few cases, I need several values to be passed in at the same time and for those results for those several values to be combined into one result set. In the remaining cases, just the single value is used. It's easy to create a formula which combines these and then use the formula as a parameter and subreport links, but this is causing Crystal to have to process ALL of the data, over and over and over again. Actually, 4 x 23 times. Ahh! This slows it down too much. How can I pass in multiple values at the same time?

Thanks,

Esther

And I don't mean passing in multiple parameters by choosing Allow multiple values = True in the Value Options section of the parameter definition window. I mean somehow passing multiple values into one parameter, to be evaluated all together. I can't do this in a formula inside each subreport and pass in that formula because that would cause all the data to be evaluated over and over again. Is creating a view to combine them on the server side the only option here?

Thanks!

Hi Esther,

So you wish to pass 'multiple values' to the subreports but don't want to turn ON the 'Allow multiple values' option?

How do you plan on sending the values? In a comma separated string?

Yes, I was thinking of something like a comma separated string. But then I decided that I will do this grouping on the server side by adding another field in my view. This will solve the problem.
