Is HANA Runtime Licese enough for SDA connection to external database for S/4HANA System ?

Hi,

Running S/4HANA, with HANA runtime license.

Need to connect external database (MSSQL). However, new SAP Kernel requires MSSQL "Enterprise Edition" only

We are thinking about use HANA SDA as replacement.

Besides the technical part, We'd like to know from the license point of view, is it OK ? Do I need to purchase other license to use SDA ? Anyone has done thtat before ?

....Because smart data access is part of the SAP HANA core system, no additional licensing is required to use it....

That language is for usage of SDA only. It does not apply to the usage of a HANA RUNTIME license for connecting to 3rd party apps. Connecting to 3rd party apps seems to be a violation of REAB and it should be checked with your Account Executive
