Inventory Management

Hi Everyone,

We have an requirement for implemanting the inventory releated flow, i am new to inventory management.

So basically we got the finalized business content cubes,

That are

Inventory Valuation: Material Prices and Inventory Values 0COPC_C04

Material Stocks/Movements (as of 3.0B) 0IC_C03

Stock Quantities 0LIM_C01

Now as per my knowlege i am bit aware of the inventory management in BW and got some inputs from the forum, and i understand that

0IC_C03 is the main extraction in terms of inventory management in SAP BW,

And for this we have a pre defined extraction method, that is using the 3 datasources BX, BF and UM,

Now my question is,

1) Is the implementation of 0IC_C03 is sufficient in terms of inventory.

2) If not, then for the other info cubes also we have a pre defined method for the extraction

( As i could only trace out one major document in terms of inventory, and that is " how to handle inventory", which majorly talks about the 0IC_C03 flow)

3) As this is the fresh implemantation, this is the first flow been targeted, that is inventory, so as per my knowlege, even if we go for the finalizing the data flow for the info cube 0IC_C03, we still first need to develop the relevant info objects master data flow first, and once done with that, we can start implementing the inventory management flow, sujjest me on my approach and correct me where i am wrong.

Thanks

Daljeet

Inventory implementation in BW mainly concentrate on 0IC_C03 infocube. Your approach is correct. You can go through "How to handle inventory" doc, which provide all the possible details about it.

Hi experts,

Thanks for your experties answer, which has given me the confidence to move ahead and was bit sure about the 0IC_C03 flow entirely capable form inventory perspective,

But still i would like your sujjestion on the 3rd question

3) As this is the fresh implemantation, this is the first flow been targeted, that is inventory, so as per my knowlege, even if we go for the finalizing the data flow for the info cube 0IC_C03, we still first need to develop the relevant info objects master data flow first, and once done with that, we can start implementing the inventory management flow, sujjest me on my approach and correct me where i am wrong.

The reason is we are still in the planning and research phase, we havent developed any of the flows as of now,

So relevant master data flows should be targeted first, right or wrong ?

You can install & activate the related objects from BI content and go ahead.

You can create Z objects also. It completely depeneds on project decisions.

Hi parvender,

I understand your point, that it would depend on the business requirement,

But as of now as i said i am new to the inventory flow,

and still there is no such clarification from the business side, they just have a requirement for the developing the inventory flow.

I have few questions,

By business requirement, do you mean that it will depend on how ECC system functional flow is been configured,

On the ECC side also they are trying to fit in the SAP standard functionality only,

So in that case, Business content would be fine, right ??

Basically i want your help on the customized fields,,,,,when and in what senerio we go for it.

Thanks

Daljeet

No, I meant which type of object you want to use. The standard one or custome defines.

Sometimes, Some projects will use the standard objects only (In this case 0IC_C03) and in some projects team will create a copy of the standard objects (like ZIC_C03) and use the object.

Moreover, for infoobject (masterd data) you can use standard one only in inventory (for ex: 0plant, 0material).

When you will install 0IC_C03 in RSA1 --> Business contents. When you will drag and drop 0IC_C03 from left to right pane, all the related infoobjects will also come automatically in right pane. Which you can select and install.

Yes parvinder,

I understand that, about the relevant info objects, which are used in the cube will also get activated depending on thee option we select ,, that is only neccessary object or data flow below,,etc

But i am concern about the entire data flow for all the relevant info objects, as for example plant,,material,,,etc

Say for i start with the installation of the cube 0IC_C03,

And suppose i select the option " Data flow before and after" , ( as i want to use the standard reports also)

As we agree on the point that it will activate the relevant info objects also, example plant,,material,,,etc,

But will it also activate the entire data flow for this info objects , like the infopackage or the dtp or the transformation ,,,etc.

or

later on i will have to select this info objects and again install and ask for the data flow below option.

I hope , my question is clear.

Thanks parvinder

Once you will select "In Dataflow before and afterwards" in Grouping and then drag and drop the cube 0IC_C03, it will pull everything (queries, transformation, multiprovider, infoobjects). Which you can install.
