Hello..
Can any body tell me....if i wanted to develop a interface between two systems ...do i need to import two s/w components from SLD in the repository....
AND
defining Inegration scenario and integation process are the mandatory to develop interfaces?
Thanks,
Hi Kilaru,
I am not clear with first part of your question
but normally you need to download them from SLD.
but IS & IP - it is not required always
IS - more or less a documentation kind of thing, but i have not tried without this
IP - only if you use a BPM, else it is not required
Hope this helps

Hi,
It is basically how your environment is set-up
normally, for ex. all the SAP R/3 related things are put under a SWCV & other applications are in a different SWCV.. but there is no rule as such..
also, for different external systems (say you communicate with different vendor or company).. they would be put under different scwv....
if the systems are in your environment landscape, you add them to the Biz systems & Tech Systems & then you import to IR . for external systems. you create a product & then import to IR.
Hope this helps

Hi Kilaru,
here in this case,
you can have two different SWCV based on the existing products. (since they are in your landscape, create Biz & Tech systems for them)
These SWCVs are to be imported to your IR,
create namespaces
create your objects
Now if you have defined a particular SWCV for R/3 (or any other system), then other scenarios in future (related with same appln say R/3) can be developed in the same SWCV with different (new) namespaces.
ID - is next stage where you define your communication channel, receiver agrements etc.
Once these things are activated, you can send msgs from one system to the other
Hope this helps

HI,
These adapters are in SAP BASIS 6.40 SWCV
http:/sap.com/xi/XI/SYSTEM namespace,
see if the IR has this SWCV.
All the adapters for which adapter metadata is defined in the Integration Repository are available for selection
check this link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/2b/d5653fd1d3b81ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm
and the topic Adapter configuration, also click the link adapter metadata. you get the required information

Hi,
An integration scenario is not a requirement to get an interface up and running within XI - it helps in visualising the whole process and can be used later on in the configuration to have XI (semi)automatically generate everything ...
If you plan an interface between 2 different systems and you want to use an integration scenario then you require 2 software components - if not then your actions will be defined internally only ... ( this is out of my head - better verify it within SAP help ).
An integration process is only required when you plan on using the business process engine for modelling a business scenario.
You do not need it for simple exchanges of data from system A to system B ( sounds like your case )

Steven
