Hi All,

1) I am newly started using Broadcasting features. I am able to send mails properly with out any issues. My issue is the received atachment is not very good interms of formating. The rows and columns are not properly visible.

Observations:

I observed that in IMG setting "0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE" is not selected a standard templete. can this be an issue?

2) With in this forum I saw a posting relating to precal service patches? How will I come to know these are applied on my system or not?

3) I saw an option zip with MIMI objects, With this option I saw all mime objects are also carried along with HTML page.. What is the use of this MIME objects?

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Kiran

Hi Hari,

Qn 3 -

MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, and refers to an official Internet standard that specifies how messages must be formatted so that they can be exchanged between different email systems. MIME is a very flexible format, permitting one to include virtually any type of file or document in an email message. Specifically, MIME messages can contain text, images, audio, video, or other application-specific data.

As far as its use in BW broadcasting is concerned, if you have a web template which has images embedded in it (such as the company logo at the top of the report), when it is sent as a email, the image is sent as a MIME object.

Thanks Somnath for the time. I undersatnd why I am getting so many documents with your reply to an extent. But I still did not get what should I do with those images? (or) I think I shold ask, How can I use those objects. Can I improve my format?

I am not very impressed by the format of the report that comes bt email.. It is like records on a "White" paper. Absolutely no columns and rows. I am sure that SAP might have not designed like this.. I am trying to figure where I am missing?

Please let me know if any one uses broadcasting fetaures by email and how the format appears?

Thanks,

Hari

Hari,

What do you get as an attachment? One html-file only or also the stylesheet & gifs? The layout of the report is specified in the stylesheet, pictures (e.g. company logo, buttons) are stored separately as gif-files.

Tha html code links to these things and they need to be stored correctly in a relative manner (e.g. in subfolders).

Do you have the option of sending the report as a MHTML-file (Multipart HTML)? Then the layout & pictures are embedded in one file. As I recall correctly you have to zip it and for zip-functionality the IGS needs to be set up (but forgive me if I'm wrong).

Hope this helps you further!

Marco

when I choose "Independent HTML", I receive only 1 html file. When I choose "HTML with separate MIME".. I receive multiple files with gif and styl sheets. I have to use this option with ZIP only.

Am I clear?

I hope you still watch my issue..

thanks,

HI Hari,

Sorry that i dont know the answer for ur question at this as i didnt use the broadcasting feature yet. But as i would be using it in near future, i would like to know, what are the settings that needs to be done, to shoot out mail at periodic intervals to a list of users. And will follow this thread to resolve the formatting issues too.

Thanks in Advance,

Mav.

Hi Marivic,

There are two elearning sessions on how to use Information broadcasting to send an email, one in "Beginner courses" and the other one in "Intermediate courses". I heared them few weeks back and it is pretty simple.

These e-learning sessions look good. General question: doe anybody know how to download these. It's stated that this should be possible in the last column, but no possibilities there.

Kind regards, Harjan
