Hi Gurus,

Iam really confused with the cube and ods. can any one explain me clearly.

i knew that cubes are used for summarzied data and ods is used in detail reporting and its has the cabability of overwriting.

here iam giving a scenario like just explain me what happens.

Suppose if u have records in source sytem like below ,

when we load to ods how they will be and when u load in cube how they will be?

1st Package

==========

OrdNum OrdItem OrdQty

1 440 5

1 530 3

2 200 3

3 440 2

2nd package

============

OrdNum OrdItem OrdQty

1 530 3

2 200 3

3 210 5

4 440 1

if there are two infopackages loaded one after the other

how will be the data in Ods and infocube and If compression how data will be cube after compression.

If iam wrong anyone explain me with the example like above

Thanks in advance and points are rewarded.

Regards,

Ram (sap_remo@yahoo.com)

Ram,

Would like to add to what has been mentioned above..

It basically depends on the combination of keys..the primary key ..

here's an example..

Material Num qty

M01 10

M01 20

M02 30

This when loaded into the ODS..assuming that it is set to overwrite...wud look like this..

Material Num qty

M01 20

M02 30

This when loaded into the Cube..wud look like this..

Material Num qty

M01 30

M02 30

In the above example Material Number is a char whereas qty is a key figure...

Hope its clear now...

Regards,

Marc..

Ram ,

We can give you the scenario as to how it will look in ODS , as for cube , it will get added up or no update. But you have the option of specifying the nature of update with regard to addition , deletion , before Image / afetr Image etc byu which you can pass negative entries to a cube and show the line as deleted in the report.

You will find more details on the same in update modes...

hi ram,

considering that order num and order item are charac and ord quantity as key fig...

with infocube as addition property...

data in infocube would be..

1 440 5

1 530 6(3+3)

2 200 6(3+3)

3 210 5

3 440 2

4 440 1
