please guide us in accrual engine how workflow works and does it trigger email notification for reviewing and approval , is sap standard workflow provide this functionality in accrual engine or every day approver/reviewer has to go in inbox to check daily if any item is pending .

Hi Antoine,

yes I had APL installed but your intuition was correct - an additional APL-related privilege was necessary to be granted in order for these components to work (please refer to my answer below).
