Hi,

I have installed a new SAP ECC 5.0 system. The release verion shows the current Release as 6.4 and Patch Level 43. Now I want to apply the latest patch on Kernal.

Can any one please provide me the steps for

1). How to proceed with the Kernal upgarde?

2). Which all files to be downloaded from Service Marketplace before proceeding

with the upgrade?

3). Any configurations/back up to be done before starting with upgradation?

4). Any document for the upgradation of Kernal.?

5). How to confirm whether the upgradation has been done sucessfully?

Please reply ASAP!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Manish

Hi Manish.

1.before that please take a kernel backup../usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run.

2.download the kernel level from sapmarket place.

3. place this .sar file in /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run.

4.use SAPCAR.exe -xvf <filename.SAR>

5.all the latest files will get updated.

Hi Gangadhar,

Thanks for the information.

Can you please send me the details for all the files of the Patch to be download as there are a lot of files but all of them are not available for the same patch level.

The basic reason behind upgrading the Kernal is to solve an issue with ICM regarding problems in HTTP requests processing.

Hi Manish,

In SAP market place we dont have patch level 143.

we have 155 level. we can implement this level(get confirm).

The path to download...

My Company's Application Components" SAP ERP" SAP ERP 2004" Entry by Component" SAP ECC Server..select windows and--database undependent and oracle. we need to download 2 .SAR files.

Orelse search for SAPEXE_155-20000252.SAR and SAPEXEDB_155-20000254.SAR files and download.

Hi,

I have found that Patch level 175 is available for thesefiles. Whether to go for that or 155 only.

Also there are other files like for enServer, enqserver, dw etc. They are needed or not.

The path I am using to download the files is :

Support Packages and Patches -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -> Entry by Component -> Application Server ABAP -> SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT UNICODE -> #Database independent -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit

Please confirm.

Manish,

Its advisable to go for a lower patch level than the latest available in the marketplace because if u apply the latest patch it might hav some bugs and then u will b in some kind of soup. Its better if u apply the lower patch level 155.

SAPEXE_155-20000252.SAR and SAPEXEDB_155-20000254.SAR are the only files to be downloaded and uncared.

Hi Manish,

In that place we will get 155 patch level.

Better you can download and implement.

If you serarch the

1) SAPEXE_155-20000252.SAR

2) SAPEXEDB_155-20000254.SAR files

this is kernel level 155.

Hi Minesh,

I find it surprising that nobody mentioned that there is extensive information and documentation in Note 19466 et seq.
