How to identify Involved tables within a HANA view

Former Member

Hello Experts here,,

Need a basic help.

For a test purpose, we are evaluating a HANA LIve view, which is quite complex having multiple nodes.

Is there a way(am sure some SQl options) though which we can identify the involved tables in that view.

Many thanks in advance,

Amrith

Hello Amrith,

As you rightly told, SQL would be a good option. Try querying on SYS.object_dependencies.

Please try the code below:(this is what we normally do...)

Select distinct BASE_OBJECT_NAME from SYS.object_dependencies

where (DEPENDENT_OBJECT_NAME LIKE 'sap.hba.ecc/BOMHeader/BillOfMaterial/hier/BillOfMaterial')

and BASE_OBJECT_TYPE = 'TABLE'

and DEPENDENT_OBJECT_TYPE = 'VIEW'

order by BASE_OBJECT_NAME ASC

Please note that here am using the view --> sap.hba.ecc/BOMHeader/BillOfMaterial/hier/BillOfMaterial

Hope this helps.

PS: This has already been discussed elsewhere..Please do a basic search before posting..

This is the moment where you want to have read Ronald's blog and checked out the set of scripts from Martin's SAP note 1969700 - SQL statement collection for SAP HANA” .

The script "HANA_Objects_ObjectDependencies" generates a dependency list for you.

Hi Amrith,

the OBJECT_DEPENDENCIES view under SYS schema give you the complete details about the dependent object information in HANA.

You check the data preview of the view and use the filters or you can write sql to know the object list.

You can also check an article Where Used list in HANA
