How to execute SI-CHECK when there are multiple production clients?

We are planning to migrate our ECC system with multiple production clients to an S/4HANA system with a brownfield conversion.
I have reviewed materials such as SAP Note 2270339 , but I couldn't find specific guidance on executing the SI-CHECK process for multiple production clients.
Regarding the SI-CHECK process, I would like to clarify the following:
・What steps are necessary for each client?
・Are there any steps that can be omitted for specific clients?

Dear Customer,

According to Note 2399707 question "6.6. In which client should I perform the simplification item checks?" and SAP S/4HANA Simplification Item Check - How to do ... - SAP Community, it needs to execute the Relevance Check on each of the productive clients, then execute the Relevance Check & Consistency Check on the client 000 as it is the same client that SUM will run during the technical conversion. Only running the checks in client 000 will ensure, that data in all clients is checked for inconsistencies. If you run the check in any other client, some of the checks will only return check results for this specific client. Please refer to the following steps:

On all productive clients:

  1. Start report /SDF/RC_START_CHECK in transaction SA38.
  2. In the Simplification Item Check Options section, choose the target SAP S/4HANA product version.
  3. Choose New relevance check in Online mode
  4. Execute the check to receive the simplification item list.

On client 000:

  1. Start report /SDF/RC_START_CHECK in transaction SA38.
  2. In the Simplification Item Check Options section, choose the target SAP S/4HANA product version.
  3. Choose New relevance & consistency check as background job
  4. Execute the check to receive the simplification item list.
  5. Review the results and resolve all inconsistency.

Vera Jiang

Hi Vera,
I'm very grateful for the valuable information you provided.
I understood that conflicts should be resolved independently on each client, and that running /SDF/RC_START_CHECK on each client is not required, Is this correct?
Please tell me a little more. Is it necessary to perform CVI_COCKPIT for each client?

Hi Yuji, Running report /SDF/RC_START_CHECK with option "New relevance check in Online mode" is required on all productive clients. Just the consistency check should be run on the client 000. For CVI_COCKPIT related questions, please contact LO-MD-BP-SYN for further information. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards, Vera Jiang

Hi Vera,
I now understand that running the report with the option "New relevance check in Online mode" is necessary for all productive clients,
I see now that CVI_COCKPIT is a separate issue. I apologize for my misunderstanding.
Thank you for your clarification.🤝

Hi Vera,
I apologize for any additional inquiries.
I would like to ask you another question regarding the construction of the development environment.
Is it acceptable to run SI-CHECK only on client 000 as mentioned in the blog post you shared?
(Since the development environment was created based on the production environment, the number of clients in the development environment will be the same as the production environment and production clients.)

In his blog post "SAP S/4HANA Simplification Item Check - How to do it right" markus goebel writes:
ーーー
Where to run the Simplification Item Check
The SUM tool will run the Simplification Item Check individually in every system that is being converted to SAP S/4HANA, irrespective of the system type (SBX, DEV, QAS, PRD...).Hence as preparation of each of these system conversions, you should also run the Simplification Item Check manually in every system.

The SUM tool is always running the Simplification Item Check in client 000 of a system. Only running the checks in client 000 will ensure, that data in all clients is checked for inconsistencies. If you run the check in any other client, some of the checks will only return check results for this specific client.

Therefore it’s crucial that, when manually running the checks during the preparation phase of your project, that you run the Simplification Item Check in client 000.

Yuji

Hi Yuji, DEV system follows the same rules as my first reply. The relevance check is executed on productive client firstly to determine the relevant SI. Then, the consistency check is executed on client 000 only evaluates those simplification items marked as relevant or potentially relevant to the system. All the checks relays on t-code ST03N data. Please know that Note 2399707 says "We strongly recommend analyzing a production system; otherwise, the results might be incomplete or misleading. If you choose to use another environment, for instance, a copy of a production system, implement and follow SAP Note 2568736 (in both the productive and non-production systems) to capture and upload the necessary ST03N data." Hi Vera,
Thank you very much for your valuable information.
I asked you this question because I was wondering why we needed to run SI-CHECK for each client when we could identify which client was causing the error by running SI-CHECK on client 000.
I will double-check the information you provided. If I have any further questions, I will not hesitate to ask you again.
Thank you for your continued support.🤝

Hi Yuji, sure, no problem. Most of the checks are same on different clients. Just some of the checks will only return check results for this specific client. If we only the report on client 000, the migration also finishes successfully as SUM runs the check on client 000. Just once the migration finishes, it will be too late to solve inconsistent items. Therefore, running the check properly on the different clients could avoid issues happen. Best regards, Vera Jiang
