We have the following scenario.
we are planning regionwise sales. For eg,say NORTH.Now in the region NORTH there are many customers.Among them some are key customers.
Now our requirement is that when we are planning for NORTH there should be 2 layouts, one for key customers and one for others.
For key customers we will get the list therefore we can hardcode it in planning package so that planning can be done for only those customers.
The problem is how can we exclude these key customers from other layout since the number of other customers is too large. In this layout only other customer should be visible not key customers.
Thanks in advance.
Create a hierarchy for customers, and maintain 2 nodes, one for key and the other for non-key. Use the hier in the planning framework and restrict based on the hier nodes.
This method is with least disturbance to the current setup and easy to maintain, as the hierarchy can be maintained easily, eg. via a flat file.
Alternatively, you can go for defining an attribute "Key Customer" for customer. This attribute could be maintained with a 1= key customer, 2= Non-key customer. You can maintain this key either in the source system or in BW.
Then you can use this attribute for selection in the package.
This design gives you flexibility in that you are not hard coding any values. It is also easy to maintain as your customers increase.
