How to Create Variable for Fiscal Year

Former Member

Hi there,

I have 0FISCPER(Fiscal Year/Period) in my Data Columns.

Please correct me if I`m wrong, but I`d need to have another variable to capture the Fiscal Year as well right ?

So, is it possible for me to create a Fiscal Year variable and put it in the Header so, user can just nagivate the years using the Header and the appropriate Fiscal Year/Period(Variable 0FISCPER) will follow ?

Hi John,

I don't think it is possible. Fiscal year/period and Fiscal year are two different characteristics and have different variable values. It is not possible to pass values between the two.

From what I understand you want something like

Fiscal year 2005 or 2006 and so on and based on the year selected you would like the values of the sub columns of

Fiscal year/period to change to Nov 2005 or Nov 2006

which is not available as a standard feature in BW.

Anurag mate,

Thanks for the prompt responce.

Well, allow me to explain my requirements once again, since I believe it should be a pretty common scenario

At the moment,

I created a variable 'TPERPLAN' on Characteristic 'Fiscal Year/Period' with

Replacement Type = Fixed Value

Selection Condition = 001.2005

Restriction of Values Required by User = UN-Ticked

I have Fiscal Year/Period in my LAYOUT : Data Column.

So, if I were to execute the Layout, of course I can get all the Fiscal Years listed for 2005 displayed in my Data Columns.

But my question is, what happens when it comes to next year 2006 ?

1) Will it change to the Months in 2006 automatically ?

At the moment, the only option I can think of is to have the client to change the 'Selection Condition' to the respective years...but this doesn`t seem to be a good workaround(in the event that user forget's ?)

Please advice matez!

Hi John,

When it comes to the next year it will not take it automatically, I think you would have to make the user change the selection condition. If you make it enterable by the user will be able to change it while executing the layout, so the variable would not need to be changed every year.

Why con't you use the customer exit as the processing type for the variable.

data: datein like sy-datum.

IF I_STEP = 2. "after the popup

L_S_RANGE-LOW = '20005001'.

Move sy-datum to datein.

move datein(4) to L_S_RANGE(4).

Hi John,

Since the variable on 0FISCPER is of type Fixed Value, it needs to be maintained by an administrator at the Planning Area(not by every user). This is quite common in BPS.

Alternatively you can use variable type User Exit. Here you can use ABAP code to take the period from system date.

Hope this helps.
