Hi ,

Follow the normal steps to create groups in portal in User Admin.

I think the group will be created automatically in UME database.

You can't create groups in LDAP from portal.

Hi,

LDAP server maintains all the users' inforamtion. So, If a new user(SAP User) is created in portal that has to be maintained in LDAP server. So, If you want to retrive users' information that will be fetched from LDAP Server.

But, I think If you create a Users' Group in portal that will be created locally and whoever users will be assigned to that group will be retived from centally maintained users' database information system that means LDAP server.

Sandip is incorrect. You can create groups in your LDAP from the portal. To do so you require write access to the LDAP and an appropriate data source configuration file. I would challenge anyone to find such a restriction in the documentation.

Dear All,

Yes UME groups can be created on the portal with portal having a readonly access to LDAP.

But, you would need to customise your datasource.xml file so that the portal knows that user groups needs to be created in the database instead on LDAP(default configuration).

Thanks,

Umesh
