How to bring Bex variables in WEBI

Hi Experts,

I want to know how to bring the Bex variables in WEBI. I read from a thread in our SCN that "UserResponse" function or "PromptSummary" function can bring in the Bex variables in WEBI.

Can anyone explain me that.

Thanks and waiting for your valuable inputs.

Regards,

Kannan

Hi Kannan,

To display BEx prompt value you should also include Data Provider/Query name & braces string as well in the UserResponse function, like below:

=UserResponse([Query 1];"Fiscal Year (Single Value Entry, Mandatory)")

Hello Kannan,

there is not much to say around this, use in a cell following syntax for a formula:

1. UserResponse(<technical_name_of_variable>)

2. PromptSummary()

If you are not sure, then visit following interactive tutorial:

Also search for those keywords in the product documentation available here:

Hi Kannan,

Your requirement is not so clear.

What do you mean by bringing bex varaibles to webi.

By default the BEx varaiables will be shown as prompts in Webi.. and if you want to get the prompt selections you made you need to use userresponse function

Thanks & Regards

Hi Sivakami,

The thing is I do not know how and where to use the "UserResponse" function.

Thanks,

Hi Kannan,

If you go to Webi variable editor, you can see the syntax! As per my understanding, you need to give

UserResponse(Prompt string syntax,[Query name(optional)]

It will return you what is selected by you while refreshing the report
