remember that if you edit the model - everything is removed and you have to do it all over

Dimension/Measures/Calculations .. Everything is going to be reverted to the initial load .. not the following ...

I have made an improvement request

https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea-edit/224241

pls wote it up. but do not expect it to be delivered anytime soon, as these requests have a veryyyy long time to market

Hi Rene, happy new year

Thank you so much for all your help answering these SAC community questions.

Apols for the delays enhancing the import model rebuilding steps.. however i'm of the understanding that we can expect the ability to edit the data preparation session in a future enhancement.

Also thanks for boosting up the visibility of the customer influence pages too, i'm not the product manager for that - but your feedback is being tracked very healthily.

Kind regards,

H

yes the roadmap states the edit of models

this link shows the below to be delivered in Q1 2019

Data preparation

  • Rebuilding of models: ability to edit data preparation sessions
  • Combine multiple datasets into a single model
  • Multiple time dimension support
  • Calculated columns creation

This has all been delivered from 2018.20 to 2019.01 - I have see 2019.01, and nothing new has been added to the rebuild of models from 2018.20

And nothing new regarding rebuild of models is mentioned in Q2 nor in future direction

Maybe you have some additional insight regarding edit of models?

for measures:

Create a new measure in the modeler

Save the model

Now bring in the same data source.

Copy from the same data connection and model (rename the new data source afterwards)

Plant is the new dimension we are bringing in (select key and text)

I choose this one to ensure that the data is replaced

Pull the new KF into the newly created placeholder

Create new dimension – save and refresh the page (in the browser (F5))

Save to make the dimension ready for a new mapping

Now bring in the same data source.

Copy from the same data connection and model (rename the new data source afterwards)

Plant is the new dimension we are bringing in (select key and text)

I choose this one to ensure that the data is replaced

Double click on the new dimension you have created – and drag and drop the new dimensions down to the placeholders

Finish mapping

Delete the old data source in the Imported Jobs (datasources)

Now the dimension has been brought in

Hi Rene,

I'm unable to add dimension/measure even if I follow your steps.

Below are the steps which I followed.

  • Created new dimension in existing model
  • Changed existing model import settings as Clean and Replace selected version data
  • Imported data from existing connection which is having existing objects
  • Pulled new dimension
  • Opened new draft source
  • tried to map new dimension to newly created dimension but I couldn't drag and drop

Can you please check and let me know if I'm missing any step.

Thanks,

Vijay

Hi,

For dimensions

1) create the dimension in your model

2) bring new data in - so a complete new dataload to the model

3) do your mappings

For measures

1) create a new measure in the accounts in your model

2) bring new data into the model

3) map the new measure from the new dataload to the newly created measure
