How to add exception handling in SAP HANA CURSOR.

Hi Team,

We are facing an issue in cursor . It keep running and doesn't break even though there bad data.

Is there any way to add any exceptions handling .

Scenario - We are constructing Child - parent relationship and doing self join on a table with Parent and child as join,  However when Parent and Child are same , It is going in infinite loop and procedure keep running.

We are thinking to add some exception handling within cursor loop as cursor doesn break or fail even though there is bad data.

Please let us know if you have some suggestion

Is this question related to the SAP SQL Anywhere database system? If not, I'd suggest to remove the "SAP SQL Anywhere" tag.

I am not familiar with SAP HANA SQL but you might just specify that your self-referencing inner join excludes rows where both IDs are identical, say (assuming the "MyTable" table has rows for parent as ParentID and child simply as ID):

...MyTable P inner join MyTable C on P.ID = C.ParentID and P.ID != C.ID...
