Hierarchies with external characteristic in querry

Hello,

I have following problem:

I have hierarchy for basic characteristic G\L Account and external characteristic Cost Center.

On report I want to display data like that:

1st hier level: Text node e. g. "Larbour"

2nd hier level: G\L Accounts e.g. 1000, 1001, 1002

3rd hier level: Cost Centers e.g. A, B, C

and I want to display on a report data only for those combinations:

1000A

1000B

1000C

1001A

1001B

1001C

1002A

1002B

1002C.

But on a report data is displayed as follows e. g.:

for G\L 1000 and all cost centers even if I did not defined others in hierarchy.

Could you explain what I should do?

Thanks

Andrzej

Hi Andrzej.

We have currently a very similar problem. Did you find a solution to that? I would appreciate if you could describe it.

Thanks in advance,

Marcus.

hi,

I did it in following way:

G\L account is compounded to chart of accounts. In our source system we use chart '1000'.

In transfer rules of transaction data for 0chart_account I have wrote ruotine:

if costcenter between A and C

chart of accounts = '1001'.

elseif costcenter between D and F

chart of accounts = '1002'

elseif....

....

endif.

Hierarchy I have design as follows:

1st level text node: Larbour

2nd level char node for A-C cost center and X g/l account: 1001/X

2nd level char node for D-F cost center and X g/l account: 1002/X

and so on...

In my situation I did not have to deal with each cost center separately so I did it was easy to do it in following way

You can not filter values on report using external characteristic in hierarchy. Those nodes will be only displayed.

You filter values using only basic chars of hierarchy

Andrzej

Hi Andrzej,

You didn't provide the output of your query.

But anyway, if the combination of accounts and cost centers is rather steady, I'd create another char and include it into cube. In UR of the cube I'd analyze the account/cost center combination and assign 0 or 1 to the new char for showing or not showing KFs of this particular row in the query.

Best regards,

Eugene
