I have a hierachy in a query in a Bex Analyzer workbook. I can right click and selct the level to which I can expand the hierachy. But what I want to know is where do I set at what level the hierachy within the Analyzer opens to as default. For example within the query I have set that the level is opens to is 7 but it does not open the query within the analyzer to level 7 as default?

Of course you can achieve it. Check the property of hierarchy.

Check the following URLs. You can find step by step guide there .

Hope it helps.

I'm sorry but I've read the help and I dont understand. I've created a hierachy variable for cost centre and I've restricted that to a particular hierarchy. However when I run the analyzer with a query that contains the input hierachy variable I still dont understand where I set the level that the hierachy automatically opens to. As I said I acn set the query to open the hierachy to a set level but this doesnt seem to have any impact on how the hierarchy opens when in the analyzer.

Oh no, you do not need to create the hierarchy variable to display default node.

Variable (Hierarchy node) are used for providing a flexible way for user to pick a node he want to see.

You can simply pick a node and set it as default setting to display the result. I am at home now and do not have system on hand.

if you go to properties of the characteristic where you have the hierarchy defined, you can expand the hierarchy to a pre-defined level. I will confirm it in system at tomorrow. Leave your feedback here if your problem persist.

I am back. Char.(The one hold the hierarchy) -> Properties -> Hierarchy -> Selected Hierarchy -> Pick the hierarchy -> Hierarchy Parameters -> Expand to level

You can set it here. If you only want to show specific nodes, you can use Hierarfchy Var.

Thanks for that. I have set the level in the query for that characteristic to 7. But in the analyzer I have a variable that lets me choose which group I can open. If I open a group at level 4 it only opens level 4 and level 5 groups. Where is that set? Why doesnt it open all the way down to level 7 as set in the query?
