Help with Application Integrator iViews

Former Member

I'm using the generic application integrator iView in order to create a link to a third-party application by using a system alias instead of hard-coding a URL using the URL iView.  The link appears to work fine using the application integrator iView, however the address bar shows a Portal address such as this:

https://hostname.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prteventname/Navigate/prtroot/pcd!3apcdlocationtoportald...

Any ideas why this is happening?  There is some slightly strange behavior happening on the third-party application when users are re-directed using the application integrator iViews as opposed to using the URL iViews.

This is the content I am using:

Component com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Generic - Running an Enterprise Portal - SAP Library

That is because the application integrator iView is accessed in an iFrame within the portal, even if you open it in an external window. For the same reason you can't link to Google for example. In order to overcome the issue you will have to implement a custom portal component that will issue a redirect to the external URL bypassing the portal entirely.

Hi Ethan,

The URL you are seeing is for the Appintegrator iview you created in PCD.
This is the expected. To further understand this, please turn off the short URL
option in portal navigation and try again. It will show you the full URL of the
iview. (Or even try with some tunnelling trace tools such as HTTP watch) That
way, the original iview will be masked and end user will show the Portal
specific URL only.

Regarding your second question on the application behaviour, can you be more
specific on what error you are facing compared to URL iview ?

HTH

Cheers!
